Program overview

What participants can expect

DRMI’s Nurturing Parenting Program provides evidence-based parenting education for parents and caregivers working to strengthen family relationships. Lessons support emotional awareness, healthy communication, empathy, boundaries, and the day-to-day skills that help children and parents feel safe and connected.

DRMI began delivering the program at the Leon County Detention Facility in 2025, with an emphasis on family reunification and stronger bonds during and after incarceration. Co-founder Bernice McMillan completed direct training with program founder Dr. Stephen Bavolek.
