Program overview

What participants can expect

Control the Fire Youth helps young people understand that strong feelings are not bad; what matters is learning what those feelings are communicating and choosing what to do next. Participants learn to recognize an emotion, pause before reacting, and select a response that supports their safety, relationships, and goals.

The curriculum pairs social-emotional learning with guided discussion, life skills, and interactive practice. Developmentally tailored Control the Fire Kids materials support elementary and middle-grade learners, while youth cohorts extend the same core skills to middle- and high-school participants.
